How do I know my rising kindergartner is mature enough for VBS?

A. All children should be toilet-independent and able to have fun and stay engaged in a fast-paced environment. Please note that due to Safe Environment rules, volunteers and staff cannot assist children in the bathroom.

My child has food allergies, how should we prepare for the event?

A. Please list all food allergies and medical concerns on both the registration form and the release form. We will email the snack menu to families with listed allergies. On days when the planned menu does not accommodate your child's unique dietary restrictions please bring a snack from home. Provide all medications (Epi-pens, anti-histamines, inhalers, etc...) your child may need in a bag or container with their name and dosage clearly printed on it. Drop off medication kits at the check-in desk.

What should my child bring each day?

A. Each child should have a water bottle and a sweatshirt. Water bottles should be marked with the owner's name. If your child finds the parish hall chilly, sweatshirts are needed.

Will my child have take-home items from VBS?

A. Yes, your child will receive a Bible buddy figure and a saint card each day. Your child's crew leader collects Bible buddies and saint cards in a VBS bag to take home at the end of the week. Each child will also receive a VBS t-shirt. To practice good stewardship of our parish's resources, please ensure your child has all of their items at dismissal on the final day.

Our family plans have changed and we are unable to participate. What should I do?

A. Please email the VBS director as soon as possible to drop your children's spots. VBS is a very popular event and we have a limited number of spots available. Contact Trina Wilson at outreach@iopnc.org

What are the behavioral expectations for participants?

A. Our expectations and rules are simple: each child should treat others as they want to be treated. Children must follow instructions from the leaders and volunteers. We will address disruptive or bullying behaviour by removing the individual from the activity and discussing the situation with the parent or guardian at pickup. Please ensure your child does not bring the following: knives (including utility/pocket knives), weapons, vapes, tobacco, alcohol, cell phones or tablets that have unrestricted internet access, or anything that may damage walls, floors, bathrooms, etc...

Please ensure the child knows how to be a good steward of our parish facilities. For example, dispose of paper towels in the trash can, not the toilet.

We want everyone to have fun and be safe!
